About Aenea Kanaan
Aenea Kanaan is a 25-year-old Palestinian American poet, artist, and storyteller based in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
As a Syracuse University graduate, she uses her Communication and Rhetorical Studies degree to build worlds through her imaginative writing and channel her deepest, most intimate feelings into art. With the opportunity to study abroad in Osaka, Japan during her time at Syracuse, she gained an even more profound reverence for other cultures, languages, and ways of life which influence how she sees the world. She believes that stories can be a bridge between people, a mirror in which we can see the humanity in one another. She uses her passion to transmute pain into beauty. Gold is the first official release of her written work, though her love for writing started as young as seven when she wrote countless short stories inspired by her favorite books. To this day she is an avid reader, with a passion for singing and plant-based cooking.

Aenea Kanaan is extremely proud and excited to share her latest and first official release, Gold.
Gold centers around the themes of love and loss, vulnerability, the journey to discover self-worth, and finding one’s voice in a world that has become increasingly loud.
Combining poetry written from 2014 through 2021, this book is the first physical manifestation of a deeply personal look into her mind. Using poetry as a powerful outlet of self-expression, she explores the realities of staying true to oneself, the struggle to belong, embracing sensitivity as a superpower, and the human existence itself. This book is meant to be as cathartically healing to read as it was to create.

"The creation of a single world comes from a huge number of fragments and chaos."
